Oboist Timothy Clinch received the Bachelor of Music degree, summa cum laude, from Lawrence University; the Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, and the Master of Fine Arts and Performer's Certificate from the Institute of Chamber Music at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Since 1989, he has studied with John Mack of the Cleveland Orchestra, Mr. Clinch was a recipient of the 1994 Delaware Division of the Arts Solo Recitalist Fellowship. He has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony, South Dakota Symphony, Toledo Symphony, and the Delaware Symphony and has served on the faculty of Augustana College, Sioux Falls College, Lawrence University, the University of Delaware, and the Brevard Music Center. He currently performs with the OperaDelaware Orchestra, the Princeton Chamber Symphony, and the period instrument groups Brandywine Baroque and Me'lomanie. This summer, he will join the Utah Festival Opera Company as principal oboist. He serves as President of Local 21 of the American Federation of Musicians, and is Music Theory Coordinator and instructor of oboe at the Wilmington Music School.
Charles Salinger is principal clarinetist with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra, and an active freelance musician in and around Philadelphia. He has appeared as soloist several times with the Delaware Symphony, performing Copland's Clarinet Concerto, Rossini's Introduction, Theme and Variations; Mozart's Symphonia Concertante, Franz Krommer's Double Clarinet Concerto. As a substitute clarinetist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Mr. Salinger has performed with conductors Eugene Ormandy, Ricardo Muti, Leonard Bernstein, and Zubin Mehta. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, he currently teaches clarinet and saxophone at the University of Delaware.
Bassoonist Jon Gaarder received the Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Master of Music in Performance from the New England Conservatory where he studied with Sherman Walt, principal bassoonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He continued his musical training in Canada at the Banff Center School of Fine Arts. Mr. Gaarder is currently instructor of bassoon at the University of Delaware and Westchester University. In addition, he is principal bassoon with the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra as well as a member of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia-based new-music ensemble Re'lache. He is a recipient of the 1999 Delaware Division of the Arts Solo Recitalist Fellowship. Last spring he began substituting regularly with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and performed with them on their European tour.
Hornist Cynthia Carr holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and Florida State University, and also completed a year of post0graduate study in Norway as an ITT International Fellow. An associate professor of music at the University of Delaware, Ms. Carr is also a member of the Philadelphia Opera Company Orchestra and a frequent with the Philadelphia Orchestra. As a soloist and chamber musician, Ms. Carr has been invited to perform at a number of national conferences including the 1999 Music Teacher's National Association Convention and International Horn Workshop, and the 1997 National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors Symposium. Ms. Carr received the 1997 Delaware Division of the Arts Solo Recitalist Fellowship, and in 1996 released a CD of music for horn and piano by women composers with pianist Julie Nishimura.
