Serban Petrescu

We are pleased to welcome Serban Petrescu as our new Concertmaster. Mr. Petrescu was born in Bailesti, Romania and received his Bachelor of Music in violin performance from the National University of Music in Bucharest in 2003. He received his Masters Degree in Music Performance at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2005 and is now pursuing a second masters at West Chester University. He was a member of the Giurgiu Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania and the Baton Rouge Symphony and Acadiana Symphony in Louisiana. Mr. Petrescu has performed with the National Radio Orchestra of Romania, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the Rapides Symphony Orchestra and Jefferson Performing Arts Society. In 2004 and 2005, he participated in the Brevard Music Festival where he studied with Elmar Oliveira. He is a member of the Liric String Quartet, which will perform on the final NSO chamber music concert of this season on April 1, 2006.
