Newark| Age: | High-school students and college-age youth (high-school graduates under age 25 as of December 31, 2005) are invited to participate. |

| Residence: | Contestants must be permanent residents or full-time students in Delaware, or permanent residents of a county in Pennsylvania, Maryland, or New Jersey that is contiguous with Delaware. Applicants not meeting residence requirements will be considered if they study with a Delaware resident. |
| Instruments: | Contestants must perform on stringed, wind, or percussion instruments, or on piano. |
| Repertory: | Contestants must be prepared to perform by memory a complete major work for solo instrument and orchestra. |
| Fee: | A nonrefundable* fee of $25 must accompany each application. Checks
should be made payable to Newark Symphony Orchestra. Applications must
be received by the deadline date (October 14, 2005). * The fee will be refunded if the NSO rejects the contestant because of residence considerations. |
| Accompanists: | Contestants must furnish their own accompanist. |
| Music for Judges: | One copy of the music to be performed must be provided for the panel of judges. (No photocopies of the music may be used by accompanists or provided for the judges.) The judges' copy should not have either the student's or teacher's name on it and should be unmarked. |
The high-school and college-age winners will perform with the Newark Symphony Orchestra at a concert in the spring of 2005.
Winners are expected to perform their audition pieces at the concert. If a different selection is desired, a change may be made only in consultation with the NSO Board of Directors no later than sixty days before the performance date.
